I bought a car 5 years ago on finance. i was mis-sold payment protection. I contacted the finance company to be told it isnt them who sold it me, and that it was the car company, so i need to contact them.
Is the car company liable or is the bank avoiding the claim?

Yes it will be the ones who set up and sold you the policy, in your case the car dealer, the bank are the ones taking the money every month.

I would therefore pursue your reclaiming complaint to the car dealer.

you said you were mis-sold insurance. so who sold it to you??? the car company.

You claim the finance company sold you something when they didnt. They just supplied the finance.
