Santander

Does anyone know if Santander are still auto-upholding? I know they were up until recently, a friend of mine has logged a complaint about mis-sold PPI last week, so I was just wondering.

Many thanks in advance.

Not that i know of. They took 4 months 'reviewing' my claim so that's not 'auto upholding'. In the end they declined due to lack of info but i then sent statements.
  • I submitted a claim in December and they settled within 3 weeks, which was great. Mind you every lender seems to handle each complaint different. I have read so much bad feedback re Lloyds, and again, they settled out claim within about 5 weeks, from start to finish.

We still have about four claims we are waiting to hear for: RBS Mint, HFC Bank, Black Horse and Barclaycard, but we have been so lucky with our complaints, after receiving about £30,000 and saving more on an existing loan, we are just assuming we will be rejected on the complaints outstanding.
  • I had a PPI claim against Alliance & Leicester (Santander) in Feb 2012. It took around 4 weeks. Phoned them, they did the rest. Couldn't fault the service.

Couldn't fault santander, wrote to them Thursday after xmas, following Tuesday had a confirmation that they were upholding my claim (bearing in mind Monday was a bank holiday), letter through within a week, cash in my account less than a week after that, all in all from letter posting to cash in account 19 days.

This was after years of trying to cancel misold PPI through Alliance and Leicester mind you (before recent legislation) so it made a nice change!
  • My friend called them this morning to see whether they had received it. They said they had nothing logged on their system, but that they currently had a backlog, and to try again next week.
