in Credit cards
Afternoon,
Was wondering if anyone has had there credi limit decreased with no notification. I have a £1000 credit limit with barclaycard initial It has been at around £900 for a while so last night I paid £400 off the card. Today I logged in and my credi limit had gone down to £650.00. I had no notification this would happen. Has anyone else had this happen and what can I do. I want to pay this off in full in 2 weeks time but now I am afraid they will just revoke this altogether. I only Intend to use the card for petrol but would like a limit there incase of emergency.

It could be just that you have been so close to your limit for a while and maybe paying the minimum amount, I do believe it is an automated decrease but don't quote me on that.
I personally would probably ring them up and ask them why they did it, it may be that they can reinstate it. I doubt it is anything you have done to be honest banks sometimes do this for no reason at all, just dependant on how you run your finances..
Good luck though.. I hope somebody has a better answer for you.0 -

Do you have any other credit cards? If the answer is yes are you close to the limit on any of them?0 -
Thanks for thr replies. I have one other credit card with a £100 limit on it and I have about £20 to pay on the next statement. I will give them a ring. I'm ok about the £650 limit just hope it doesn't go any lower when in pay it all off0

Happens quite often - I had 2 cards that this this with no warning. When querying it they simply said they were reviewing their policiy limits and were lowering them when circuymstances dictated, which, they pointed out, was their perogative.0

I think they will drop it again to £260, they seem to do it regularDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

They did this to me when I first got a Barclaycard back in 2005, £850 limit dropped to £800 then £260, where it stayed for about a year.
Then it increased, £510, £1010, £2010, £3010, £4810. That additional £10 has always stayed for some reason!0
