Why can't I transfer anything to my ipod anymore?

I have an ipod (touch: 4) I had to swap it over in the apple store about a month ago when the initial version was faulty. The ipod I have as a replacement seems to otherwise be fine.
I can't though transfer any music to I tunes! I'm not sure if its the new ipod or any new software, I have spybot and windows essentials as protection.
I can get CDs to load to itunes straight away but if I want to search for anything else I can't as I get an error message which reads the place I have searched in (eg documents/music/...etc) and then says "access denied".
Why is access denied? Its MY computer and I am the only one who uses it! I don't know how to fix this- can anyone help?
Thanks for reading.

Just posting incase anyone else has any advice. I've deauthorised all the past ipods (was something I did as soon as I got the replacement models). I still keep getting the same problem: whenever I try to get anything transfered over from my computer to my itunes account it tells me the access is denied.
I never used to have this problem so not sure why its happening now! I've only used itunes on my computer and ipod and only have one of each, when I had the current ipod replaced for a new refurbished model the itunes account has been refusing to transfer music from the desktop.0
