SIM issues - are all numbers lost?

I was having problems with my phone, so I contacted my provider. They got me to ensure phone and sim option was selected for saving my numbers and got me to restore factory settings. They told me if this didn't work they would need to send my phone to Nokia.

A few days later, I was still having problems but was told by their representative that before they would send it off they would send me a new sim.

New sim arrived today, I followed their instructions on the phone and I think my new sim is now up and running. However, the new issue is that my phone doesn't have all the old contacts on it. My old sim was working intermittently for the last week so I can't get that to work to get the old numbers off it. Any ideas or are the numbers lost for good

  • if you can get the phone to boot with the old sim, transfer the numbers to the phone. if that sim is damaged then the numbers are lost I would suspect

Has the old SIM developed a slight curve to it? I've seen this before, and it can sometimes mean that one or more of the contacts don't reliably make a connection with the SIM.

If it has, don't try and bend it straight! Try it in another phone, as some cope with this better than others. If you can then get it to read reliably, back the contacts up to a PC/laptop using Wammu (silly name, but it's free) and then copy them back to the new SIM/phone.

I back up with Wammu every few months in case my phone gets lost/stolen/dropped.
