Expired gift voucher help please

Hi,
I am not sure where to post this but could really do with some help/advice.
We recently moved home and have been sorting stuff out of late, during this sort out we found some vouchers that we had misplaced during the move. We have got £40 worth of ticketmaster vouchers and £50 worth of Reiss vouchers that were bought for us.
The vouchers have unfortunately got a 6 month expirery date on them which has passed. Have just spent 30 mins on the phone to ticket master to see if there is anything that can be done about this since £40 was paid to them and nothing has been redemed for this money. Have been unable to speak to Reiss yet will be doing so tomorrow.
My question is, can they do this?
Any help will be grately appreciated.
Thanks,
John.

In short, yes. The fact that you have not used them is not the company's problem. I honestly don't know why people use gift vouchers anyway. It's like giving someone a tenner and telling them they can only spend it in a certain shop within x amount of time.Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0

Sometimes it is because it gives the person the chance to buy something they want. I know if I am given a tenner, once it is in my wallet it usually gets swallowed for bills and normal day to day costs.Nice to save.0 -
Unfortunately the terms and conditions on the voucher are probably very clear about the limits of use and the time scale available. Whilst I appreciate that you feel you have got nothing for the money spent, to the supplier it is the same principle as buying tickets to the theatre for one night, and then turning up the next night and expecting to be allowed in.
It might be worth writing to their customer services team to see if they will extend them for you (some companies charge for this but it is better than losing the vouchers altogether), but I would reccommend being contrite and not trying to paint them as the bad guys as anything they can offer you will be a goodwill gesture and unlikely to be forthcoming if you get their backs up.
Good luck - this is the kind of thing you always discover just a couple of days too late isn't it!!0
