Ccj confusion. Please help!

Long story short, I am 21 years old, and a bitter ex has taken a ccj out against me without my knowing and has been harassing me for the past year. I've been in the process of setting it aside but recently paid him the money so i could get rid of the threats and difficulty it has caused me.

Once satisfied, will the ccj ruin my employability/ chances of obtaining a mortgage? My credit report remains strong, even though there is an outstanding ccj... I'm very confused and losing sleep over this!

I'm afraid that if there is a CCJ then your credit report does not remain strong, indeed it is exceptionally weak.

You may have to "grin and bear it" until it drops off of your report, which could unfortunately be half a decade or so.

Only an unsatisfied CCJ should have an impact. If it is set aside and ultimately successfully defended OR you pay the amount claimed within a month (if it is re-instated), it should have no impact.

In most cases it won't affect employability - it is not a criminal matter.

if you had no idea about the claim against you then you had no chance to defend yourself against it or counter claim or pay the sum and avoid judgement. this would give you a good chance for a set aside which would be decided at a new hearing so you can attend and the judge can hear your side of events. if the judge rules in your favour and the claim is set aside then the CCJ will be removed from court records and will not affect you in any way. if the judge decides that the original claim was valid then it will affect your ability to get good credit products and only credit cards like vanquis, aqua etc would look at you. and catalogue companies. i hope you got proof that you paid the debt
