Splitting bills with housemates

I'm a student, have been living in a student house since September and due to some issues I have decided to leave.
I am currently going to be renting the property still as I search for a replacement, so I'm still renting and am still in my tenancy agreement. My landlord knows of my plans.
The one thing I am confused about is what to do with bills. As I will not be in the house, I won't be using the facilities in the house.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the legalities are regarding refusing to pay the bills. I am planning to offer to pay the internet/line rental as that is fixed, but gas, electric and water are all based on usage so I am not sure whether I am entitled to pay because I am still renting, or not because I'm not contributing to the usage at all.
Anyone got any ideas? Is it illegal for me to refuse to pay?

Are you a named account holder with any of the utilitiy companies?
You'll need to discuss this with the other tenants. On the one hand, you are still a tenant, and they were/are expecting the bills to be split however many ways.
On the other hand, you will not be consuming gas/electric etc so could argue you should not pay.
It's a matter for you to agree together. But little different to, say, when one tenant goes on holiday - do they get to knock of that 2 week period from their contibution? Pobobly not.0
