Car Insurance 'crash' dillema :(

Hi all,
I have very recently had a bit of a bump in my Focus that was my fault as the the owners car was parked up, so i subsequently reversed into it, not watching what I was doing......
I am the main policy holder with my partner as an added driver. My partner has 7yrs no claims and I 'had' 7yrs no claims.
Anyway, the thing I want to know is, seeing as I will have 0yrs no claims after this claim goes through and I am shafted by a much higher premium, will it be possible to get a cheaper premium if i change the policy holder status over as my partner??
Thanks for any info

Rob

Having one claim doesn't mean you will have 0 years at renewal. Check your policy to see what effect one claim has on your NCD. (You should have at least 3 at renewal!)
Your partner won't have any NCD for being a named driver on your policy!0 -
The policy of the vehicle will be the one to lose NCD; you won't have a choice. Any change of policyholder normally means a new policy and won't be retrospective anyway. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Thanks for the hasty replies...
So I rang the insurers today and yes you were right Quentin, they deducted 2 years NCD from my policy. Hopefully my premium won't be to much higher now... and I was aware that my partner doesn't gain NCD for being a named driver. She had gained these through her own previous policy.
Thanks again peeps

You might also want to remember if you insure a car that belongs to you and you are the main driver of, in her name for a cheaper premium that is known as 'fronting'. This is not allowed and your insurer should they find out would look to cancel your policy as if it had never existed and not pay any claim, so if this is the situation you would probably be best leaving it in your name.0 -

Regardless of your no claims discount your premium will still rise due to the accident, also how long ago did your partner earn her ncd? Longer than 2 yrs ago and they are probably void.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
