Hey all. If I buy something in USD on my Halifax Mastercard, will it be converted and charged in GBP based on Halifax's rate for the day?

Pretty much, yep. You'll have to add a possible commission (or "load") onto the amount, probably about 3% on top, depending on which card you have.0

Its better to use Halifax Clarity credit card, as there is no foreign currency loading.0 -
Aha, no chance of getting one of those at 19 I think :P I'm just buying a couple of things from a US website, would I be better off using my Barclaycard or my debit card? Or would I need to look up their rules?0

If you pay by credit card you will have section 75 protection. If you pay by debit card you will not.
A fee may be charged for foriegn transactions on the debit card. Check.
Otherwise, I can't really see that it would make all that much difference. Use whichever is most convenient to you and your circumstances.0
