Coating hardboard with PVA before receiving vinyl floor tiles

Hi all

Need a bit of DIY advice...:)
I've laid some hardboard rough side up in my bathroom ready to receive vinyl floor tiles. Now I know some say hardboard isn't the best and that it should be laid smooth side up. Anyway that's what I've decided to go for. I've read that I should coat the hardboard with diluted PVA. My questions are this:
1.Should I use PVA to coat at all or even building adhesive
2.If so, when? Just before laying tiles?
3.And if so, what type?

Thanks in advance

Hire a floorlayer, hardboard is a complete nightmare in any wet area, the floorlayer will rip it up and plywood the floor and tile it in a day.

Even under loose layed flooring, unless You've used TREATED hardboard it will just keep bubbling. When advising a friend to make sure he fixed his hardboard in 9" squares, he did just that by cutting boards into 9"squares then nailing them all down.Absolutely true. Some times it doesn't pay to give advice!!!

The 6mm ply in our bathrooms was nailed at 2" centres.
