i have recently been called a number of times from different ppi reclaim companies, one particular one has said we can claim back a few thousand.
Im worried as they are asking for all our personal loan, credit cards and mortgage details.
i have looked throught this site but cant find anywhere how i can actually see if i have been mis sold ppi.
As i would rather do the reclaim muself than have to pat the 30%! if anyone could advise me in any way possible i would be very very grateful...

How have they worked that out considering your data is not in the public domain and unless you tell them they wont know what you have, how it was set up or what you believe was done wrong. As i would rather do the reclaim muself than have to pat the 30%! if anyone could advise me in any way possible i would be very very grateful...
Ok, lets start at the beginning and not the claims company approach of complaining to see if you get lucky. What PPi have you got (or had) and what do you think was done wrong to justify a complaint?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Hi nicsco84,
DO NOT use a claims company and DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES give them any of your details.
They can do no more than you can do yourself. This is why they are asking for your details because they can do absolutely nothing without them.
They will then charge you at least 25% + vat for doing nothing more than sending a letter for you. You can do that can't you
Have a look here and look for reasons for mis sell that may apply to you

If any apply to you, you can complain by downloading the questionnaire from the same page as above in STEP 3
Did you have loans or credit cards or both?

they contacted my h2b and he told them some information, but they assured him that it wont cost us anything untill contracts were signed, they are due to come tomoro. i thought i would do a little research and try and see if i can reclaim myself.
we have a loan and a mortgage and he told them one months interest we are paying and she said well its black horse u are definatley paying ppi!
Under that particular section on our loan agreement its all crossed out so im not sure how they can work it out.
Also they told me they can claim the ppi back from my mortgage and my credit cards backdating them by 10 yrs.
If my h2b has told them some information can we be charged then? im really worried as we are not in the position to find that sort of cash..:(0 -
Just be sure not to sign any contracts. I'd be telling them in writing (signed, dated and sent recorded delivery) that you DO NOT give permission for them to act on your behalf. If my h2b has told them some information can we be charged then? im really worried as we are not in the position to find that sort of cash..:(
I hope they don't still have a copy of your loan agreement(s)?0 -
no they dont have copies all info was done over the phone, and they are due to come round tomoro but my h2b is going to call and cancel. should i still put this in writing? how would i even know if i was mis sold ppi?0

I'd put it in writing in case of any dispute over a future successful PPI complaint by yourself acting alone. It means you have positive proof that you denied them permission to act on your behalf.no they dont have copies all info was done over the phone, and they are due to come round tomoro but my h2b is going to call and cancel. should i still put this in writing? how would i even know if i was mis sold ppi?
