Getting in touch with AA credit card. 24 hour line .... shuts at 5:00pm??

http://www.theaa.com/aboutaa/contact.html#tabview%3Dtab3

I called AA last week who told me to call today regarding a refund of £350 back on my account which i closed 2 months ago.

So i call the 0800 number. Sorry this department shuts at 5:00pm.

Why say it's a 24 h our line then??????

So i call the 0845 at the top, which after a lengthy discussion with a confused man, i found that this number was no good & it needs to be the 0800 number.

Either it's 24 hours or it's not. It can't be both.

Is the website incorrect? Or does that number usually stay open 24hours?

I can't call them due to work hours & break times. I don't get the time.

If the website is incorrect, how do you go about complaining to AA?

What number are you actually calling?

I would imagine specialist departments are only open during normal office hours.

The 0800 number that's listed as being 24 hours, which (before it is said) is also the number i was told to call.

Can't MBNA, on one of their many 24 hour freephone numbers, help with your query directly (assuming yours is one of those run by MBNA)?

I don't know. I called the 0845 higher up that page but after a while it was clear that was the wrong number. The guy started talking to me about my Sainsburys credit card & my halifax account. I asked how on earth he knew about this (thinking i was just talking to the AA). He then said i had to call the 0800 917 8612 number for the problem i have. I told him about the issue with the 24 hours/not 24 hours & he just said that he can't help me with that.

    Thanks for that.

The 0800 number doesn't state any opening times. I'm available to call on Sunday, but perhaps they don't do Sunday's. I'd be available beyond about 5pm on Saturdays, but many of these numbers close at 4pm.

In the meantime, i have £355 refunded to the card that i'd like to have back.

There open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday :D

When they are closed the calls get diverted to customer services which is open 24 hours.

Thanks. I didn't update as i thought you hadn't called, so figured the thread would drop.

Anyway, i was able to use the works phone to call on my dinner in the end & had the money refunded.

As for any diverting, the phone went dead. No diverting.
