PPI missold by Lincoln Financial Group - who now??

Options
Hi Can anyone help me? I believe I was missold PPI in 2000 with the Lincoln Financial Group. I stopped the policy in 2008 as I no longer paid into the ISA vehicle that it was protecting as part of a then interest only mortgage. Trouble is Lincoln are no longer registered! The internet search appears to indicate they sold the assurance part of the group to Sun Life Canada - are they worth pursuing? And, any tips? When I spoke to the FSA they essentially told me not to bother and that I had no recourse to anyone!

Which would be correct. 2005 was the date regulation started and Lincoln (or the companies which followed) would have had no liability for the sale of MPPI prior to that.
