Hi,
I have a hearing on Thursday for a bankruptcy from HMRC. I want to apply for an IVA and need time to submit my outstanding tax returns before I can make the proposal.
I think CCJ is more likely to be the reason"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
Easiest way to find out, is to get your partner to apply, assuming he has no CCJs...
I had a landlord who said to me once that he'll rent to anyone... "gays or lesbians, young or old, Eastern Europeans... Just as long as they're not Somali""The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0 -
Some landlords are wary of renting to young couples because of the problems caused by relationship break-ups. They tend to want to end the tenancy early or one leaves and the other gets into arrears as they can't afford the rent on their own. If they have a choice they might choose the solo tenant who can afford the whole rent.
Most landlords are only concerned about having a tenant who can afford the rent, passes the credit check and has a good reference from a previous landlord. It's a business.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
lol at this thread
"my landlord is homophobic cos he wont let to us"
but you have a ccj and impending bankruptcy
way to play the gay card mate, way to play the gay card...0 -
I have a similar problem with homophobic employers.
I am gay and have only poisoned a few people (that was a few years ago and they deserved it). Now these homophobic employers keep turning me down for work in restaurant kitchens. It's so unfair.0 -
I'd say the chances are (assuming the rental market is fast moving in your area) its a choice between two or more interested parties, assuming most other factors are equal i'd always opt for the party with a clean credit record.
I wonder what other marks your impending bankrupcy / IVA has left on your credit record.0 -
You just have to play their stupid little game, landlord and agency. I never tell them i'll have someone else living with me and i they only do an ID check not a credit check, they just lie about it to get you to pay for one.
Renting for 10 years:
Never had a proper credit check
Never said who i will be living with
Never had a problem.0 -

Interestingly Somalians were one of our best tenants a few years ago. Left the house spotlessly clean. Rent paid on time, far better than some other tenants.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
As a single person, I've been told by two separate private landlords "I've had a few couples look at the place, but I'd rather rent to you as you're a single person".
He didn't say why, but I think this proves that some landlords legitimately don't want couples. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
