Paypal glitches?

I have posted the specific incident on the shopping page but as it seems to relate to glitches in Paypal, I am posting here to see if anyone has experienced same problems and knows what is cause.
Basically I bought some items online from uk outlet of an international firm and opted, from shopping cart, to pay via Paypal. This transferred me to my uk paypal account where I was asked to confirm the transaction (no details), with a message saying I would see details before final payment was made. So I confirmed and at once got a receipt thanking me for my payment - no confirmation screen.
This has happened before - seems to be a glitch in paypal. However receipt was for correct amount (in sterling) and correct items.
Thought I would double check on Paypal in case there was another confirmation screen I should have seen, and payment is there, but processed in dollars not sterling and not in the dollar equivalent but with the sterling numbers shown as dollar eg. 200 pds is shown as 200 dollars.
I did not change anything from cart to payment, did not get the chance and the online receipt generated at time I paid Paypal was for sterling payment. Yet paypal is showing it as dollars...... with a conversion rate (ie less)
Obviously I am benefitting but to be honest I need the items fairly urgently and do not want to get tangled in some processing glitch. Anyone else had either of these two issues with Paypal and if so, for the second one, what happened?

Have you spoken to Paypal or with the seller to confirm payment has been received?Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

Not yet, it left my Paypal account this morning - or rather the amount converted into dollars did. I looked up the order number supplied with the online receipt on sellers site and it just said awaiting picking but that does not mean it is valid, could be a standard response for orders not yet processed. I don't think you can talk to Paypal direct?0

Some while back I bought something on Ebay and when it came to make payment via Paypal the link wouldn't work. I tried from another pc with another os over the next few days but still it didn't work. I contacted Paypal but they were more than useless and suggested I pay in another way. So I had to send the person a cheque and hoped they were honest which they were.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
