    Hi
The customer made the booking on 16th April 2011. The taxi was booked for Saturday 7th May 2011 at 2pm.

When a customer makes a booking the first thing I ask is if they have a mobile that can receive calls in the UK, the customers response was no! Most of the clients have already left their country of origin and are usually on a 3 week cruise, so there only means of contact is by email.

If the customer says he called you to say he was arriving the next day, then that's why the chargeback failed. I can't see why you say that the customer is wasting everyones time and money ? Did you call him at any time to see where he was ? Did you get a contact number from him, i would have thought that would be the first thing you would do when taking a booking ?

It's hardly likely to be a scam is it ? There's absolutely no benefit for a fraudster in this case. I think you should just forget it and accept that it was a breakdown in communications by all parties.

Of course I asked for a contact number but with US customers, some mobiles do not work in this country. Of course the customer wasted time and money as dover is a very busy port and we could of taken other bookings at this time, It is up to the customer to contact me regarding change of booking, not the other way round.
I have never once mentioned it being a scam. It was a breakdown in communication, with the customer being at fault, so why do I lose out!

This is somewhat contradictory. And what has 8th May got to do with anything? The booking was for 16th April.

    Not according to your OP.

Are you sure your husband actually went to Dover on the correct date?

So it now looks as if the taxi was booked for 7th May and not 16th April and, reading between the lines even though you deny it, I believe the customer was in contact with you on 8th May? Is that right?

Here we go again. You say you have had no contact and yet ....

And how could you possibly prove this? The Data Protection Act will have prevented the ferry company from revealing this information to you. If you have knowledge of which ferry the customer travelled on then you must have been in contact and aware of his movements.

If your communication with google was so confused are you surprised the chargeback was upheld?

7 months is a long time for the chargeback to be under consideration as well.

Yes my husband went to Dover on the correct date and time! It is the customer who failed to turn up on the correct day and time.

So .... although you say that the customer was arriving at Dover on a ferry you then mention that most of your customers (including this one I guess for you to have mentioned it) have already left their country of origin and are usually on a 3 week cruise, so there only means of contact is by email. Interesting.

What is so interesting? Not all cruises go from the port of your choice, some people fly to a destination and pickup a cruise or ferry from all over the world, then return to a different location or fly back to their country, what is so interesting in that! Maybe when you take your holiday you fly from A to B then back again but most people don't and I certainly don't!
and yes once on a cruise usually the only communication is using the ships email facility. You obviously have never been on a cruise. I was asking for advice, if you cannot give constructive advice, then please don't bother posting, as once again more waste of time!

Your husband went to the ferry terminal on the original booking date. BUT, your customer says he called you to tell you he was coming the next day. I don't know anyone who travels from America who wouldn't have a working mobile with them, most mobiles work worldwide.

Without any proof of his call or any proof from you that he DIDN'T call, this is going nowhere. Just accept that this dispute is closed. Maybe have a look at your booking procedures to see if it can be prevented from happening again ? You lose out i'm afraid due to the breakdown in communication.
