i wouldnt touch one of the hiddeous things even if nissan paid me and the fuel to put in it and drive it. in fact i just put a brick on the pedal release hand brake and have a laugh at it hitting the wall and looking marginly better afterwords.
civic would be my choice BMW 1 series have their problems as do civics.0 -
Ex owner of an 06 2.2 diesel Civic, see my post in an older thread about my experience with it:

If the Honda dealer won't offer a part ex go to a different dealer, plenty about after your business so if they won't jump through the hoops, move on. I still like the older civic more TBH, I just can get used to the 'modern' looks of the new one. Each to their own I suppose but not for me.0

Funnily enough i am kinda half car hunting at the moment.
The current contenders are..
1)Peugeot 207 sw Hdi Allure
A lot of car for a little money and cheap to tax/run
2) Honda Vtech civic 1.8 petrol manual hopefully in EX trim. Great value used examples, great styling, reliability
3) Honda ST1300 Pan European...
More excitement before i die..
Incidentally,i'd buy the Honda Civic over a BMW 1 series. I'd feel like a poor relation in the BMW 1 series and really,BMWs arent all they are cracked up to be.
Ohh yessss........Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
How many miles do you drive each year? The general consensus is that diesel is only of benefit if you drive at least 12-15,000 miles a year.
In addition, if you are doing mainly short journeys around town, with lots of stop-start driving, then any diesel cars fitted with a particulate filter may have problems with it clogging up, unless you regularly give it enough time to burn off any built-up deposits. Having said that, I don't know if the Civic or 1 Series diesels are fitted with DPFs - just something to be aware of, if you do decide to go for a diesel.
I don't know what the current 1 Series is like, but I hope it's a big improvement on the previous one, which I always thought was very cramped inside.0 -
