Hope someone can help - my daughter has a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop and has managed to change the keyboard language so when she pressed the H key a J appeared etc. Before I could take a look the laptop battery went flat and now we are totally locked out as the password is not being recognised. Is there anyway of resetting the keyboard so she can log in again??? I have searched through lots of forums but am completely stumped!!!

i wonder if booting up with the windows installation disk may help, as you get to choose the keyboard layout as first thing. This may at least help you find out which language she changed it to. from there you may be able to work out how to enter your password correctly. someone prob has a better answer but this is perhaps better than nothing... you be the judge

boot the laptop from this cd
http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
remove the password
OR if its XP on the laptop then as the laptop boots hit F8 and choose "safe mode". A hidden admin account with no password (unless one was set) will appear , boot into that and remove the password from the other accountEx forum ambassador
