Daffodil picking when i was a teenager in the 80's made about £7 for 8hrs work it was backbreaking, next worse was a cs job for a bank that was soul destroying being stuck in a call centre, in fact i think i would have considered going back to flower picking if i hadn't of been able to go onto maternity 6 months after i started,0

. I've been doing this through an agency for a couple of weeks, they just said that I wouldn't see what i'd be transporting - until I got to the place of work it suddenly dawned on me! I need bills to pay though and kids to feed and my hat comes off to the full time workers who do it.
You know what's worse - when the said full bin has a dodgy lid and the contents all fall out _pale_ - it's good job i'm used to poohey (sp?) nappies as we take those bins too.
We definitely have the same work ethic!
Another 'job' I had was washing a full team's football kit after their matches. I was 8 months pregnant so couldn't do a proper job. I leant over the bath with a hosepipe, turning disgusting socks the right way out, so I could hose the dried on mud off. I'd find minging old plasters, blood and alsorts inside. Then I'd have to carry the sopping wet clothes down to the washing machine. I needed the £2.50 it paid though!0 -
I had a student job as a chambermaid and that was vile. People live like pigs when they don't have to clean up after themselves. The posh people were the worst. One woman even pooed in the bath as she couldn't be bothered to get out. She sent for a chambermaid to get the poo out of the bath afterwards.0

On what level did this woman think that was acceptable?????
I worked as a chambermaid once too - glad I never had to deal with that sort of stuff though. The worst I encountered was peanut shells all over the floor (and I mean ALL over), and oily pillows - I presume someone had had a hair treatment then went to bed.0 -

What is wrong with either of those? My partner is a domestic at a nursing home and loves it, me I work at hospital 'helping patients to go to the toilet' and many other things. I pitty the person who has to look after you at any point in your life. Yes care work can have it's downside but it is a great rewarding job.0 -
For me a horrible job would be in a pub or restaurant. I used to work in pubs and just hated it.0

I actually didnt mind fruitpicking but one of the worst jobs I had was working as a bull inseminator where I had to collect bull's sperm for insemination into cows:eek:
I had a saturday job in Shoppers World which was inside Woolworths - it was ok working as an assistant but each month I had to take a turn in the canteen and make everyone's lunch. I was told where to shop so I was sent out for lettuces from the shop that my mum would avoid because the lettuces were always hopping with greenfly. I spent hours washing the ruddy stuff and I then got shouted at by the evil supervisor who moaned that she had found a greenfly on her lettuce - I retorted that a little bit of protein wouldn't do her any harm. It was also the day when I boiled the huge kettle dry (I was used to an electric kettle at home) as I was not used to kettles being on the hob - I managed to blow a hole in the kettle:eek: Needless to say I wasn't invited back.
Must admit that I have worked for some really awful bosses in my time though:(0
