What's the Worst Job you've Ever Had or Can Think Of?

I was thinking over some of the jobs I've had in the past and thought 'Ugh, how did I ever do that?' (I did anything that was about to fit in with small children).

My worst was cleaning a bacon factory during the evenings. Washing machines and floors using huge drums of water, then squeegeing it all down the drains, picking the 'big bits' out so the drains didn't block.

I'm sure there must be more horrid ones than this?

  • Collecting the waste food bins from the local Young Offenders Prison. Basically the slops in big commercial bins, not nice on a summers day when its been in the sun for a few days, being glared at by the inmates.
  • Working in a pork pie factory had some grim aspects. I didn't eat them for some time - I do now, the memories have blurred enough.

Worked in a riding stables, had to clean the stud stallion's sheath out before he serviced mares. I had small hands, so it was my delegated job...

Many years ago..working in the chicken factory packing drumsticks into trays, on a par with a job cleaning toilets in an airport..

I lasted half a day at both. The upside was, it made me return to college and get qualifications to get a better job!

Picking burnt crisps off the hot belt as they came out of the fryer in the middle of summer. It had its perks though.

The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

A temp one when i first left school in the holidays, smashing eggs.
We use to smash eggs that were frozen and sold for catering to the likes of catering companies making cakes etc. They got the cheapest eggs on the market from all sorts of foreign countries, many of them crawling with maggots and stinking.

Any sort of cleaning is pretty horrible. Also my one and only night shift at Tesco was a killer. One of my family members works at a hospital and has to 'help' people go to the toilet
