Floss, that was the point of the over-the-counter debate....I have vivid memories of Julie T Wallace, Dennis Waterman and Patricia Hodge, and this is the sequel published 34 years later!

  • I remember that she devil TV show too.
I also got more teddy bears for my dogs to destroy. :o

It was really cheap in that shop, it had a sign saying everything £1 or less. I got the scarf, bowl and 5 teddy bears for £4.

I noticed that one of the teddy bears I bought was like a bean bag so I didn't give it to my dog as I thought she might choke on the beans. I looked up the label of the bean bag toy on ebay and they sell for £15-£20! I probably can't be bothered to sell it, but I just thought it was weird that two of the things I bought could sell for a lot more than I bought them for.

Maybe I should go on that Bargain Hunt show.:rotfl:

Sounds exactly like the shop referred to in this post:The staff are well-intentioned I'm sure, but are utterly clueless about retail. On the odd occasion I venture in there, the volunteers are always having heated discussions about the displays. The last time I did I saw china egg holders and large plastic cake holders that were still available in Poundland. Priced at £1.99

I hadn't been in there in ages, but I thought it was different from how it used to be laid out. I just walked all the way round the shop and then back out.:p

I bet I would whoop your a*rse at it :p. Today I had some brilliant buys in Essex, for £2 each: a Rocha John Rocha "fur"-lined winter coat for my niece, a beautiful floor length gown in midnight blue (think Kate Middleton-style), two F&F blouses and a reversible poncho / shawl.

And 2 books, of course :D

  • Chazzer visits have been in short supply recently but I have been back on the trail again this week. Tuesday found me in Otley (St Gemma's of course) but my only buy was a M & S fine knit jumper for 99p. As new. My new favourite shop in Otley is the Everything 20p shop, though it's not a chazzer so might not count! For 80p I got a book, 2 DVDs and a birthday card.

Wednesday found me in Skipton in the Mind cs that has opened since my last visit. Wow but it's upmarket! Lots of designer stuff. I spotted a pair of Betty Barclay grey jeans for £8 but sadly they were too big. I nearly cried as they were gorgeous. I settled on a Per Una flimsy top instead.

  • Something I want to look out for in a CS is a jacket for autumn. I have a winter coat and lots of cardigans, but I don't have anything in between. I would like a faux leather one if possible.:)

Wednesday - you may be lucky and get a real leather one! I picked up a beautiful soft leather grey biker style one for about £8.00 - it actually looked a bit like peachskin fabric as it was so soft! I now have a small collection all from various CS ;)

I'm going to ignore this ^^^^.
Can you feel the waves of disapproval coming over the ether? :D

Had a full day out yesterday with my old charity shop friend.
We first worked in the same office - straight out of school - 47 years ago and made friends almost 20 years ago when I introduced her to charity shopping.
And the rest - as they say - is history.

    I bought:
    • a 100% linen M&S Petite red sleeveless blouse with a pleated neckline and self covered buttons. Will go great with linen trousers
    • a Viz-a-Viz unstructured jacket in lime green. Short, boxy style with 3/4 sleeves and lovely big shell buttons. I've tried this on in a local department store on at least 4 occasions and as soon as I walked into the shop I picked it up and said 'I'm having this and I'm not even going to bother trying it on'. Like this one: https://www.viz-a-viz.com/index.php/shop-all/jackets/crop-dandelion-print-jacket.html
    • a bright striped short sleeve shirt for OH
All the above were £1.00 each from Arthritis Concern (all items were same price)

    From Sue Ryder shop:
    • a Mantaray 3/4 sleeve dress in navy jersey with a lime and jade pattern.
    • a fab pair of tartan (red, navy, biscuit and off-white) trousers by Gok for TU. Very stylish with slanted, jetted pockets edged with silky material. Slim legs. Look like wool but a mix of polyester, viscose & elastene. And the best bit is they are a size smaller than I usually take and no elastic in the waistband! :j Look fab with my navy chelsea boots but I have absolutely nothing to go with them 'up top'. :(
    Both items £2.00 each.

I agree, silvasaver, definitely worth looking out for a leather one.
Yesterday I saw a Lakeland bottle green leather coat in fab condition - so soft that my friend and I actually stroked it :rotfl:- £10.99 but at least 2 sizes too big.
  • Scored a heavy knit Aran cardi with fab chunky buttons in the Starlight CS -£1

In the same shop here was an immaculate, vintage Astrakhan coat with beautiful heavy silky lining, long shaggy "fur" in different shades of blonde/caramel - absolutely gorgeous - only £2 but sadly only a size 10....someone slim is going to get a bargain!
