    Cheers Pollycat

    Not Aldi then! :D

I'm in town tomorrow so will pop in primarni and report back

    Bexster :)
    Cheers.
I'm in a city tomorrow so I'll pop in and see what I can find - Primark is usually heaving there.

Different town next Friday so will also look.

My sis - who loves Jo Malone and told me about the Aldi diffusers - is also on a mission to a different town.
There is no hiding place. :D

    Help. Help.
Been into Primark, asked where the Jo Malone smell-alike was.
Assistant didn't know so asked another.
She didn't know so asked another.
    She didn't know either.
    Looked in the perfume section.
    Nothing.
Wandered upstairs to the home section, looked at candles & diffusers.
    Nothing.
    Where should I be looking?

Awwww Pollycat...sorry you had a wasted journey. It is a new range so perhaps it hasn't been rolled out to all stores yet? Still you would have thought the staff would have been aware as there has been a lot of discussion in the press about it.

(Apologies for linking to the dreadful Daily Fail!)

The range is called 'Private Collection' and in both the Leeds & Harrogate stores all the items were with the other cosmetics and smellies quite close to the tills. At least you managed to get a chazza shop bargain!

P.S. Just noticed there is a photo of a display stand for the JM stuff in that article....mebbe that may help??

My store in the NW only had the pomegranate and black tea in the hand cream. I did ask the store assistant who was restocking the shelves and she said that that was the one everyone was buying but all they had left was the hand cream and when I got to the till it was half price, which doesn't bode well for further stocks. They did have loads of the Disney teapot but were limiting it to one per person. I bet Ebay well be flooded with them this weekend!
I did manage to buy a lovely dark brown light weight coat from Next that was in one of our more 'posh' charity shops. It has a little stand up collar and concealed buttons and I am over the moon with it.

Not a wasted journey at all, Miro. :)
I was in town anyway and needed to go to Primark to return some leggings and I had time to spare before meeting OH and friends.

Have sharpened my elbows for tomorrow in case I need to get into a scrum in the big Primark. :D

Will be doing around 10 charity shops too so hope to bag some bargains but I find this city's shops a tad expensive.

I do have a zippable laundry bag made of a fishnet stocking type fabric that I bought for my undies in communal washes when travelling; never thought to use it with larger items. I guess they keep garments more compressed, so less surface area to bobble and warp?
:) I think so. Sometimes the twisting and rubbing against other garments can be a bit much for some fabrics, I guess we've all unloaded our washers and had to unsnarl legs and sleeves from various garments from each other. It also stops detailing like beading etc from catching. I shall be handwashing the mobair Hobbs cardi as it's very delicate, though. Very chuffed with that find, and to think I almost missed it because I wasn't even looking at nightwear!:rotfl:

I've loved reading all your bargains. I've had major back surgery so have been out of action for a while but I am hoping to share some bargains soon. I am a complete charity shop addict and now can't shop elsewhere!

I was just wondering if any of you could help? I was excited to find a lovely Boden jacket yesterday for £5 :). But I hate to admit I'm getting older and didn't have my reading glasses with me so I couldn't read the care label!! When I got home I noticed it is specialist dry clean only.
I don't know whether to take it back or whether I can risk it in the machine? I don't want to spend a fortune in the dry cleaners as the coat was only £5. It is 100% cotton and fleece lined. It is a really heavy cotton and I was hoping it may offer a little protection from showers but it is not a wax coat.

It's like this coat but shorter! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BODEN-BLACK-HOODED-RAINY-DAY-JACKET-SIZE-8-BNWOT-/112564732697?hash=item1a35618319:g:MKMAAOSwjVVV2aM5

Thank you so much for any advice.

:) Hi, gotta be brief as am about to run out the door.

Neither of the fabrics you mention are dry-clean only. Jackets can sometimes have interlinings (collar, lapels, front facings typically under buttons/ zips) which aren't machine washable, though.

The worse case scenario is that the cotton wasn't pre-shrunk and that it, or the interlinings (if there are interlinings, most jackets would have some even if they are very thin) distort and spoil the look of the garment.

I would be tempted to risk hand-washing this jacket gently, in a large vessel like a bathtub, squeezing water out (i.e. not wringing it out), starting the drying process flat over a towel over a clothes airer, and finishing it drying over a coat-hanger.

    HTH, gotta run. GQ x
