I have amened GDB's list for you.
So, the plan is:
1 speak to shelter for help with the housing situation
2 Apply for new bank account today
3 apply for housing benefit and any other benefits - do you need advice on how to do that?
3 Get help with your debts

I was just trying to give a bit of perspective, it's only money. Probably best just to start dealing with it rather than turn to suicide or drugs.
But I was telling you not them so hardly the same is it.. I then went on to offer some advice so that would be part of the "dealing with it" bit.
Not everyone has the ability to cope quite as well as you might have so perspective is a personal thing.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

Maybe you guys need show a little respect and take this argument away from this persons request for help.
In order to help, we need to know exactly where this person is with the eviction process. Have there been court hearings? Payment plans? Repossession order?
Most councils and HAs will bend over backwards not to evict tenants who are willing to pay something on a regular basis. Please come back with a little more detail.Been away for a while.0 -
Seconding what Running Horse has said.
Its difficult to give advice with so little information - please let us know what has happened, and what stage you are at.
Has the Council been to court - and if so have they obtained a possession order, and what type - suspended, postponed or outright?
Have they applied for a warrant?
If you chose not to post details, please do seek advice quickly, Shelter, or a local housing advice centre, or the CAB may each be able to assist. But you need to get in touch quickly.
In my opinion you have been offered some bad advice here - to be clear GBD2222 is wrong, there is a possibility you could be homleless - and if you were to go bankrupt this is unlikley to stop any action to end the tenancy especally if the council already have a court order.
You have also been offered some good advice - speak to someone about benefits ASAP as well as Shelter or similar about your housing situation. The worst thing you can do now is bury your head - you need to take action.0 -

If I took a guess at the biggest thing in life most people worry about its money. Secondly, it would be potentially becoming homeless. Both those things are of grave concern to most people and put strain on health, families and the mind. I can see perfectly well why the original poster is worrying, I would be too if that was me in that situation. Practical, helpful advice is why they are here, not to be told not to worry! That's the stupidest statement anyone could ever say to someone with serious problems.0 -
I would like to say thank you for all of the advice in previous post. i only wish that had come back in time to read them.
the pressure did indeed take its toll on me and i thought that the only way out would be to take an overdose. I was found in time and taken to the hospital,
my only advice i can offer to people who think they are going to break under the pressure is to talk to someone, even though you think your situation is bad there is always help, but we get ourselves so stressed and worked up we are unable to see it.
my actions have caused so much hurt and anger within my family, they said i should have asked for help, but then they say pride comes before a fall.
please if you are in a situation and you feel like you cant cope call somebody!!0 -
I'm so glad that you are still around to discuss matters. Nothing money-related is as bad as all that, but I can imagine that it seems pretty impossible at the time.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

ive just found out today that i have lost possession of my council home and im so scared, i dont know what to do.
i fell behind with the rent after i went self employed and it has been a struggle ever since. before i knew it i missed one payment then another, and now find myself in this horrid situation,
no one else is to blame except me but im unsure of what to do, how do i tell my family that we have to leave, i cant see a way out of this living hell, im trapped in a deadly spiral of payday loans, debt seems to surround me and i cant take much more, im at such a loss and have lost everything, im so scared i dont know what to do.
i just feel like ending it all, maybe then this would be all over
im really scared

Sometimes it can be really difficult for someone not going through what the OP is or was going through to understand how hard and worrying it is, you worry you will be on the streets, have no food or money, you think there is no way out, its ok for those who have a secure roof over their heads and enough money in the bank to pay their bills and feed their family to tell someone in a desparate situation to pull themselves together, but its really not that simple.
I was in the same situation a while back, couldnt pay the rent on my HA house, got a possession order, went to court, but most HA or council landlords do not like evicting people, they will do what they can to help them stay put, a judge can also over rule and allow the tenant to stay put if they make a decent offer of payment.
In my case I offered £10 a month over the rent, all we could afford and they accepted this, it took a long time to pay it all off but eventualy we got back on track and so did the rent, it can be done and really its just a case of talking to the housing officer before things get really out of hand.
If you are evicted and have kids, they have to put you in some sort of accomodation, even if its a B&B, you stay there untill the arrears are paid off, not an ideal situation but better than being on the streets, so there is always some sort of light at the end of the tunnel even if its not very nice, its something and gives you an incentive to sort yourself out.
When you feel so desparate that you feel the need to end it all you have to think of your family, how would they cope with out you, its those who are left behind that suffer the most and thinking about that maybe will make you change your mind if you ever feel things are that bad again.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0 -

They'll forgive you - they are probably just scared as to what might have happened. At least you have a chance to get things back on track for both you and them now. All the best0
