Time it takes for CC refund to get through?

A few weeks ago I returned an item bought online within a 7 day refund policy. Last time I called the company they said the item had been received in an unused condition and was told they would issue the refund, to my M&S CC, that morning.

The call was last Thursday and I wondered how soon it will appear on my online checking on the M&S web site.

Usually a few days, depending on when the merchant makes the payment, and their bank pays it back to you

Just checked online with my M&S account and it says this about purchases so I guess refunds could take as long

"How long does it take for transactions to appear?

It depends on the type of the transaction that was made. Normal retail purchases can take up to five working days to appear on your account."

Hopefully it's better than it was. I remember purchasing a business airline ticket with British Midland circa 2000 and having to cancel it. I paid for it on my own card, which wasn't normally a problem, as I'd just put it on expenses and claim it back. Of course when you cancel it, you can't claim it back. Six weeks they said for the refund (and that's how long it took), so I had to pay out for it and wait for the refund.
