Moving House. Sky Releasing the Line

Hey,
I am a bit of a worrier so it may all be fine.
Basically,
I contacted BT to move my account to the new house we are moving into. This is on the 26th. They said it will happen on the 30th as that's when the line is being released by the current providers (Sky)
I spoke to the estate agent, and the sellers said they changed the date of the move with sky to the 26th.
I call BT again and it is still not released till the 30th. A pain, but not a major problem, it's only 4 days.
Reading a BT forum and one person seems to be having an issue a month after their move with Sky not releasing their line.
They can't call Sky as it's not their account. BT can't get Sky to release the line, even though the old home owner has moved out, set up their Sky package in a new home and Sky are aware of it.
What can you do in this situation?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Tom

As you pointed out, there really is nothing you can do except keep your fingers crossed - or alternatively ask Sky to retaqin you so there will be minimal downtime (it might also be cheaper).
Most cessations are without issue, but I agree, not being in control is a real pain at a time like this!0 -
If there is a tag on the line because the outgoing occupant has not cancelled the service then it will inevitably cause delay, though it is not insurmountable.
If you are having to pay for a reconnection anyway, it may be easier just to ask for a new line to be provisioned-the cost should be the same. And presumably you don't want to take over the existing number? No free lunch, and no free laptop
