  • I'm still waiting after numerous promises over the last year or two. All I've received is letters promising it will be sorted out within the next few weeks. A total shambles if you ask me.

Phoning the 'helpline' is a waste of time, they can't tell you anything to do with your personal case. What's the point in a helpline then?

If it had been a PPI claim (and even if you'd asked for the cover) the taxpayer will have been happy to firehose compensation your way.

But it's EL and you're supposed to be an affluent middle class saver well, tough luck, you can await scraps the government is prepared to grudgingly distribute for the Regulator's incompetence - and be jolly grateful for whatever and whenever you get it!

Can anyone say roughly how long it currently takes between the scheme receiving your proof of identity documents and responding? It's now been a month and I've heard nothing.
  • No proof of ID, they just sent a cheque. A fraction of the money they worked out that I lost. Thanks government.
  • :j:jWe have today received a payment via warrant rather than a cheque. It stated to take this to the bank within 3 months. On trying to deposit this today it was refused by the bank as they stated it wasn't signed. Can anyone help here :j:j

I received a letter yesterday, saying I'd be getting £78 (22% of the total loss), still it wasn't something I was expecting. It was as I had an AVC with them which I took out as part of my company pension scheme. Nice to get unexpected free money for a change :)

There should be a space on the warrant for you to add your signature before paying it in.

The warrant should look exactly like a premium bond warrant - they used not to have to be signed but NS&I have tightened up recently (not before time).

I've received my warrant, again unsigned. Sorry to sound thick but I've never seen one of these before. At the bottom of the cheque my name is stated twice and there is a space in between, is this where I should be signing?

    thanks :)
  • The Equitable Life Payment Scheme has been unable to trace members of some group schemes where scheme trustees have failed to return members’ details and they have therefore been unable to trace some policyholders who are due payment.

Claims must be made by 31 December 2015.
