    Try the hotel do Normandie,
(Havre des Pas, near the outdoor swimming pool).

Its basic, but I found it to be clean and the staff are really friendly and generally very welcoming and friendly! and the best thing about it is it has a swimming pool (Again - its a basic swimming pool - so don't expect anything fancy - its also unmanned mostly)
I just looked up the rates and its £26 for a single room B&B - very very reasonable for Jersey.

    Hello,

I grew up in Jersey and am getting married there this summer! We are suggesting to our guests to have a look for accommodation around St Aubin's, it's a pretty harbour area with guest houses, B&Bs and hotels. Having said that, people have booked hotels and even camping all over the island. The bus system is good in the summer and will take you to the majority of tourist destinations. My favourite beaches are Plemont, St Ouen's and St Brelade's. Greve de Lecq is nice too (the sea's coldest there though!)

Happy to answer any questions on what's good to see/do!

I did think about staying in that hotel when I was there last week, but I thought it was further from town that it actually was. It wasn't too far from where I stayed myself. If you look on their site, they can do discounts on stays as I nearly got one myself, but me been silly, didn't go for it, but that said, I did have a good stay where I stayed anyway :)

  • travelling alone in Jersey will be fine. It has one of the lowest crime rates in the UK!

Ferry is probably better overall as check in for foot passengers on a ferry is a doddle and its only 2.5 hours to guernsey and about 3 hours to jersey. However fags and booze duty free wise work out cheaper on the plane. Also the cafe on board condor is expensive and the food isn't much better.

Once I flew from gatwick to guernsey and we were just above the island circling but couldn't land due to the fog so had to turn back to gatwick! So that is a drawback to flying as fog is not uncommon over in the channel islands.

So ferry just edges it for me...less tiredness from travelling.

One day I was over there last week, the Island couldn't get any papers as the plane couldn't land or something. It was a foggy week last week, but thankfully didn't affect my flights :) *wipes brow with relief*

How does the allowance work on board ferries? Because looking at the Condor site, it says 200 fags max to be brought in (back to the UK), but then you can buy 400 really quite cheap, so you have to smoke 200 whilst you're there, and only bring back the other 200?

I've discovered I could ferry back to Portsmouth (from memory) on the overnight, which gets in 6amish. But I'm not so sure that's convenient really, with my sleep pattern I'd get to sleep 2/3am and have to be up an hour or two later, so I probably will have to stick with the faster ones.

I'm not sure whether I could easily ferry over to Guernsey on a daily basis for a few days, and whether that would be better cost wise, than just getting a B&B for a couple of nights there. Certainly to ferry might be easier if I can just have one base to call home for a week, and not have to repack, unpack, repack etc after 3 or 4 days. I think I just solved that by finding out I'd only have 4 hours play time @ a cost of £30~ return each time. That makes it on par with paying for a B&B

Also on Fast Ferries, it says 15kg max per foot passenger, is that in total, or could you take a hand luggage with you too, plus say on the way back if I've bought a medium sized momento, in a shopping bag too? It talks about Personal Luggage, that gets checked in, so this is what confuses me, If I took a large rucksack as my hand luggage with it, is that still included, do they sit and weigh them, and charge you mass amounts if you're slightly over? Can you "pre-book" more luggage weight/space?

Aww, see all the info here, and what I've found out online, and the pictures just makes me wanna go now! Patience :D

I didn't even know you where weight limited on fast ferries, I thought it was a flight thing, live and learn.

In regards to the photos I just shared, I have over 650 photos on my photobucket to tease you with ;)

If you want to see both Islands, perhaps you can book a b&b for 4 full days 5 nights in Jersey and than ditto for Guernsey or something similar? I definetely need a home base when I go away to rest my weary legs and whatnot. I would be a mission sailing from Guernsey to Jersey every day for a couple of days, I know I wanted to do a day visit when I was over there, but they where not sailing like that than.

ive been to the channel island several times
im pretty sure that they no longer have the agreement with the uk for treating you if you fall ill
    you will need travel insurance

if you just want a base to sightsee ect then the Mayfair hotel is great its at the top part of the town has a indoor pool nice big clean rooms and powerfull showers
in the summer its full of saga deals and boat trippers but now it will be dead quite
a week at the moment is 235 for a double room for sole occupancy inc breakfast if you book direct on there website

with the ferrys you just check in your bag ( bit like plane check inns ) and then just wait to go onboard ( you can take handluggage ect on with you )

the ferry terminal is right by the bus station by liberty square oppostie the Pomme Dor Hotel

Looking on the Mayfair, for 5 nights in sept. £525! That's just way above my want to pay. As nice a hotel as it looks, too much :D

Now I'm spending a few days working out the actual days. I think it'll extend to 10 days basically, 5 nights and then 4, with travelling etc after. Thanks for all the help, Really appreciated! :D

Sounds good plans you are making Lifeforms :) I still stand by my original recommadation of La Bonne Vie B&B in St Helier :)http://www.labonnevie-guesthouse-jersey.com/site/

The single room I stayed there was brilliant :) Although at first I couldn't get the shower to work well, it was because I had to be patient for it to warm up but when it was running well, it was good :)
