Overcharged Transaction and not impressed with product

Hi,

I recently bought a couple of tailored suits from a company that are based in Thailand, but come to Europe every quarter to major European cities. Normally I would have been a bit funny about this as they are based in Thailand and having any issues could have been an issue to sort out, but as I had a couple of friends that already used their service and were buying again I thought it would be ok..........right?

Well I received my two suite (one with waist coat), two shirts, and two ties on Friday and everything seemed ok, but then I tried them on. The first issue was that the tie on the back of the waistcoat came unstitched when I pulled it to tighten it up. This annoyed me slightly, but can be fixed my a tailor in town. Then I try on the jackets and find that they are a bit short in the arms and too big on the chest. By this time I am a little annoyed as I have paid out a fair amount of money for these and I was measured up!

Next I logged on to my internet banking and find that they have overcharged me. It's only £5 something, but still, I have a faulty waistcoat that I will need to repair and suit jackets that don't really fit that well.

I have emailed the company twice in the last week, one using the message system on their website and the other was an email. Both have not been replied to.

Would it be worth me contacting the credit card company on these issues? As far as I am concerned I have been overcharges and have faulty goods? Will they just tell me to contact the merchant? How long should I leave it for the merchant to reply to my messages?

Any advice would be welcome as I'm quite frustrated at the moment!

Thanks

......that they have overcharged me. It's only £5 something, but still,

That is probably just a fluctuation in the exchange rate.
  • That is probably just a fluctuation in the exchange rate.

But they have filled out the receipt in GBP £ so that should be the price? They should take the hit with the exchange rate?

The £5 overcharge is not really the issue, it's the faulty goods and lack or repsonse. I'm several hundred pounds down with items that are not really any good to me?

They will sometimes fill it out in GBP as a courtesy, although if they did charge in GBP you would find they would give you a terrible rate anyway and you would be better off with your banks rate.

I assume the price of the products are over £100 so you're protected by Section 75 as you paid with a credit card, so claiming the money back if it gets to that point shouldn't be a problem. You may experience a slight struggle with your credit card company, but it should be resolved.

Can you prove that they're the wrong size ? Do you have a copy of your order with your measurements and do the items received measure differently ? If not, you'll struggle with any claim through your card issuer. Plus you may also have to send them back to the seller.
