E-on final bill

I have just looked online at my final bill with Eon, we have changed over to british gas, we have lived in this property for a year now and have been on prepayment (meters were here already)

When we moved in we had loads of hassle with eon trying to get the previous tenants debts off the meters, we were paying her debts for weeks on both the gas and electric. Tried to get the money back from eon for months but no joy, we gave up i the end.

Anyway now we have left they have sent a final gas bill of £198!!! How can we owe them anything on prepayment. In actual fact they should owe US!

We have accepted the fact we wont get any of our money back, our own faults for not keeping the reciepts, we just wanted shot of this horrible company but now this.

Is there anything we can do? This bill is only for the gas havent recieved the electric bill yet (I dread to think what thats going to be)

TIA :)

    Hi fannyannie

I'm really sorry you've had such a difficult time but please don't give up. If you've been paying a previous tenant's debt then this is not right and needs sorting.

I suspect the final bill is related to the issues at the beginning of the account, which seem to remain unresolved.

You need to speak with one of our specialist prepayment teams (contact details are on your bill). If you're not happy with the response, ask to speak to a manager and follow our escalation procedure.

Make sure there's a complaint opened on the account and is backdated to when you first raised this with us.

If, after 56 days, you're still not satisfied with our proposed resolution then you can refer the matter to the Ombudsman for an independent review. I suspect back dating the complaint will take it past the 56 day point straightaway.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction fannyannie. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so.

I too, had this problem with EON they also set the meter at the incorrect rates after telling me they had done a reset so was paying too much until I noticed.

EON are a shambles, the call centre staff dont know there a**e from their elbow.

Ring the director line 0845 302 4340 and speak with one of them, they were the only people who seemed intrested in the matter, I recieved all overpaid money back from them in the end and I now am very happy with EDF.

    Hope this helps:money:

It could also be your closing reading. Did you supply it? If not it will hopefully be based on a reading close to the switch data picked up off your key from the closest payment but it could be Deemed if not and thay estimate will put it out of line with meter.
