Redrow, part-ex with ex-council house

Hi guys

Has anyone had any dealing with Redrow? In particular thier part ex scheme?

Weve got an ex council house that we would like to part ex but the sales woman wasnt interested. Basically pushed us out the office and said come back once youve sold your house. Not to happy with her but we do love the new house.

Now our current home is ex-council however its been that way for at least 20 years. Doesnt this count for something?

Barratts have said they'll accept as its been a long time but we do love that new redrow house.

So what im asking is, Is the rude saleswoman correct? could we part ex due to home being ex council for so long?

Cheers

It's up to the builder if they accept your house or not, they have no obligation to take the house in PX.

The developers will be looking for properties that they believe will sell quickly in part exchange deals & may consider where you live not to be an area where they could achieve a pretty quick sale, especially now the housing market has slowed to it's present crawl in some places.

Some buyers just won't consider ex council, unless its an individual house that the council bought in a road of privately owned properties. And with these kind of properties, that are very rare, nobody would ever be aware that they were once owned by the local authority.

Have you actually tried to sell your house yourself yet or just decided to try the part exchange route first?
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
