Could anyone send me a code for (delete where applicable):

    Saturday
    Sunday

I would like to exchange it for (delete where applicable):

    A Saturday code
    A Sunday code
    Neither - I just want a freebie

The reason why I didn't get the code was (delete where applicable):

I was doing a fun run for charity
I was unwell and unable to get to the shop
The dog was unwell and I couldn't get to the shop
I live too far from the newsagents to get the paper
I asked someone else to get it and they forgot
I was on holiday and got back too late
    I got up too late
The weather was too cold/too hot/too rainy/too British and I couldn't get to the shop
My paperboy/girl was unwell and didn't deliver
I couldn't be bothered to get off my a*se and get the paper and like someone else to help me out because I just can't be bothered

    P.S. I am not being serious :-)

Well said - and I AM being serious!

I know Mum asked about a code a few weeks ago (and we gratefully recieved one) because we were both too ill with same bug to go to shop. We can't get paper delivery either. So some of us are genuine in needing codes thank you very much!

We've been collecting since the scheme started and never asked for a code before, Mum is an established user, etc.

The adverse comments aren't aimed at guys like you - more towards people who ask week after week (sometimes only minutes after midnight) for codes and clearly have no intention whatsoever of making any effort to get a paper. Its obvious that some people expect the rest of us to do all the work/spend money on the papers - and then give the lazy s***s the codes! People who ask occasionally are fine - but its a bit naughty to take advantage week after week after week.

Definitely what I was aiming for with my list. It was aimed at people who are asking for codes week after week and only appear to have joined MSE to do this. Often, as tbw says, just as the day has started for the code they want - so never any intention of getting the newspaper. And also at people who take codes that are posted and don't click thanks.

I'm sorry if I upset anyone with my trival post yesterday but I think we know the type of posters I was aiming at and it wasn't KxMx.

Anna, I found your post amusing. tbw you have definitely made your point. I'm sure lots of people share your feelings but perhaps your efforts would be better placed in objecting to codes being posted on the grabbit board rather than upsetting people you don't intend to upset.

Look, I didn't say anything to upset anyone - just agreed with the earlier poster. Most people are sensible enough to realise that donody objects to occasional requests but people do not like being taken for mugs. Anyone who can't follow that reasoning is either not thinking it through or has a bit of a guilty conscience !
