My hubby could not get the Daily Mail yesterday, Wednesday 6 February in our local W H Smith as they said there was a problem at the printers and this affected two different papers. This was for the Scottish Daily Mail. Was this only in certain areas of Scotland or was it as a whole? Did other people have no luck buying it? I've sent a message via the Contact Us part of the Mail Rewards page to see if they can help with a code as so annoying when we buy the papers 7 days a week and when I'm entering the codes for a triple reward but can't actually buy the paper. These things do happen, I understand, but just wonder if they have any plans in place for these eventualities.

If you look at post 5587, retired typist has put the answers for the alternative route.

    Hi Ailey,

I got a Mail on Wednesday 6th Feb but there were no codes on any of the copies - this was in Waitrose in Edinburgh - but I took the paper anyway as you get the Mail free when you use a Waitrose loyalty card and spend £5 there. Out of curiosity I then looked at the Mail in two other shops and no codes there either. At least I had the paper and was able to use the online verification system to get a code, but that's no use if the shop doesn't have any Mails.

If the Mail is aware that there was a distribution problem in your area, they ought to send a code by email to members affected by this.

See message I got when I entered my unique number today.

If you are entering your 5th Unique Number between Monday 4 and Friday 8 February for your Triple Mail Points, please be aware that your 100 Bonus Points will be allocated by 11.59pm on Wednesday 13 February.

The annoying thing about having no unique number is that you cannot enter their lotto. When I complained via their contact email they said I could enter through their postal route by printing off a form. I find their contact staff not very helpful.

Just saw this - my online Tesco order came on Wednesday without my Daily Mail which was a first - with no explanation and apparently no available substitution!! Obviously there was some sort of general problem with the publication that day!

Thanks to everyone who replied. I got a reply which gave me a telephone number to call and press option 2 to get another number. She said they were aware of the printing issue in our area. The number she gave me was an 0844 number (surprise surprise!!) but I used www.saynoto0870 and got a regional number so that Sky would not charge me the per minute charge which they do for 08 numbers. I asked to get put through to Mail Rewards, which they did and then I had the option choice and once number 2 chosen I was held on for almost 6 minutes and had to hang up as my sister was on her way to collect me to go see my Mum. I always think that you are intentionally kept hanging with these 08 numbers as I know some companies do get money back from certain numbers (although I don't know if an 0844 would be included). Anyway I'll need to try tomorrow as I can hang on as long as required. Hopefully if I get a number from them I will not be too late to qualify for the triple points award but possibly got until next Wednesday as that's when they add the extra to our accounts.

To beanielou - We had numbers in Thursday and Friday papers okay so maybe your area still having a problem there. If anyone needs the regional number, let me know. :)
