electrical Heaters?

Hi guys,

the younger ones in the house like using electric heaters seen as it's cold. So which heaters shall I invest in to keep costs minimum?

I have central heating, which I put on a few hours at night, and a few hours in the morning. But 1 or 2 of them like putting the heater on when it gets too chilli.

So any recommendations would be great!

thanks

None except a couple of cheap basic convector heaters for use in an emergency such as boiler failure. Use the gas central heating more it is much cheaper. Get thermometers and put them into the rooms to monitor the room temperature. Living rooms should be up to 21 and bedrooms should be up to 18. They will feel cold and want to use the heating if the temperature drops below 18 in the living room and 15 in the bedroom.

Electric heating (on a single rate tariff) is about 3.5 times more expensive per kWh than gas, so using your existing CH a bit more is much the better option.
All electric heaters are exactly the same efficiency, and cost the same to run for the same rated output-so simply buy the cheapest.

Try these. Most economical heaters available :)

    thanks for advice.

So would it be cheaper to run gas central heating at low (15 marker). with 6 radiotors on. Than having 2 electrical heaters in 2 rooms?

No one can tell you that without knowing the CH output. But kWh for kWH, gas CH is much cheaper. Localised electric heating may be cheaper.
If you set the CH as low as 15C, it's only going to come on in fairly extreme cold weather anyway. Most people use around 18-20C.
