Kitten with diarrhea :(

Hi all haven't been on here for a little while. distressed to read the thread about people not wanting black and white rescue kittens as i have my gorgeous black and white long haired (also apparently not a popular thing to have) rescue kitten asleep on my lap as I type, she is the most timid loving little kitten i've ever been around! anyway, as cute as she is yesterday and today shes had fairly bad diarrhea (worse yesterday, yellow and watery with lumps - gross - and today a better colour but still very runny and smelly) she is fine in herself and is acting normally and has been eating (i've only left down biscuits which they always have - no wet food) she doesn't go out yet as shes only 4 months old and hasn't eaten anything around the house - we are very careful with that. also her brother is absolutely fine and they've both been on the same food for months. they have go-cat kitten biscuits and half a pouch of whiskas kitten per day. when we first had them i put them on applaws and then gradually tried james wellbeloved and both seemed too rich for them and make them both unwell (her brother was even sick once) since they've been on this diet they've been perfect and are very happy, until yesterday. she hasn't been going that much, only twice today. but it was about 5 times in the space of about 4 hours yesterday. any idea what could be causing it and what I could do to improve it for her?! thanks all

I am sorry to hear that puss is unwell
It is unlikely for any us to be able to determine what the cause of the diarrhoea is, it doesn't sound like it is food related, but it could be viral related.
Whatever the cause, if puss is not significantly better tomorrow, I personally would be getting an urgent vet appointment. Diarrhoea can be quite serious in such a young kitt, and can quickly cause dehydration if not treated. In terms of food, it is normally recommended that you should feed bland food such as boiled chicken and rice - dry food could possibly exacerbate any dehydration.0 -
4 months old with runny poo - personally would take her to the vets if things are not back to normal by tomorrow. Kittens dehydrate quickly... Hope she is well soon.0

I second the opinions above...go to the vets if not better tomorrow. We had a simialr experience with our little boy and it turns out it was his food een though he had been ok with it and his siter was ok with it and it was a decent vets recommended brand!
Until then, if you have any chicken boil/steam that and give in very small doses and make sure there is plenty of fresh water around....perhaps put a bowl in everyroom she has access to?"More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them." - Harold J. I agree get her to the vets as diarrhea can be serious for young kittens. Has she been wormed?0

Definately take her to the vets. Kittens can go downhill very quickly because of their size. I lost a kitten last year. She had had chronic diarrhoea since I had her but was fine in herself. The vets were aware. Then she became a bit lethargic and within a day and a half she passed away in the vets' care. Is she drinking enough water? If she has diarrhoea she should be drinking more than normal. Hope she gets better soon xA Bag A Month Challenge member0
