I am aghast! an Aldi with substandard fruit and veg and you couldnt find Bread flour etc! my local Aldi (and the one in town) stock all you said you couldnt find and I find the fruit and veg is fresher than in the market!
Bad MANAGER! not kidding hun, go onto Aldis' website and email your comments.
I worked in retail for over forty years and a store is only as good as its manager! a good manager makes sure he gives the customer the items they want and fresh produce is FRESH!
from comments on here it seems that stores can be a bit hit and miss - perhaps I have been lucky - but the two stores I frequent have been well managed - and it shows!
The reason I dont like the local Lidl is because its just not up to scratch! bad management and it shows. I have been in Lidls elsewhere and they were a joy to shop in.

do try another day- my local one does seem to run out of things on a sat pm but magically restocks for sun am.
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I'm doing more and more of my weekly shop in my local Lidl, with only the odd foray into tesco at Whoopsie time. I find that yes, the range on offer overall is far more limited than Tesco but the range of basic ingredients is more or less the same. I can do without nine different ranges/brands of pasta for example (I am serious, my local Tesco has nine different ranges, most of which duplicate each other!) as long as I can get a good selection of basic types. Similarly who needs more than plain, SR, bread and wholemeal flours, plus yeast and baking powder? Tesco has 46 different flours, most of them mere brand duplicates. And Tesco must have at least a hundred different kinds of olive, once you look in different places. It gives the illusion of a wide and exciting range of products but really, it's just duplication, it's confusing and the actual range of different items is much lower than you might think.

Anyhow, faced with a consistant range of ingredients plus a rolling selection of weekly seasonal specials the only real limit is what I'm prepared to do with them. I do have a set of core recipes, about 30-40, but at least the same again in seasonal ideas so I can make a good variety of meals from basic ingredients. If I get bored I go online and have a look at what new ideas there are, or pick up a supermarket freebie mag, or treat myself to a Good Food magazine. Lots of good ideas there.

They started stocking it a few months back - along with a wider selection of home baking ingredients such as baking powder.

they may be trialling it in selected stores - ask for it in yours then the manager can say there is a demand for it!
