Go for it, we looked at getting married on Good Friday next year, but were unable to without spending a fortune on a venue as the registry office was unavailable due to upcoming elections. When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.

Personally I wouldn't like to be invited to a wedding on Good Friday.
I'm a Christian (altough - sometimes casual Christian, I don't go to mass every sunday - prob around 90% and tend to be very relaxed in my views etc). I always go to church on good Friday, and would not miss this. Holy week is a solemn week in the Christian calendar and not a week for celebrating IMO.
If a large number of your guests are Christian, then I think you need to consider this before booking. Also be prepared for the fact that it is a day of fast and abstinence for Catholics, so no meat general fasting, and abstaining from alcohol etc.
At the end of the day, it is your wedding, and if this is the day you want it, then have it. However, just be prepared for a higher than normal number of declines - ou know yur guests and know how many people this will affect and can judge accordingly.
Also - is there any variation in Licensing laws on Good Friday? Here we have early closing (in fact most don't even open)Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

We had ours on the Sat of a bank hol weekend and was great as everyone felt like they had a proper holiday and stayed for 2 nights without needing to take time off work!
We thought about the travelling as well but in the end no different to Friday being a work day before a Saturday wedding. We got married at 3.30pm so people could travel on the day if they wanted to.0 -
There are only two christians on the list, and to be fair Im not fussed if they dont come. One is Catholic so I am not sure how he would feel about it, It's my OH's uncle so I will get him to ask.
The rest of my family and OH's are not religious so I doubt it would be a problem for them, and OH's christian friend is very lax.
I definatly don't want to get married in a church, I was thinking of a later afternoon wedding so people could travel up in the morning if they wanted, and doing more of a substantial buffet kind of tea meal instead of an wedding breakfast, so people can eat a light lunch and have a few hours to stretch etc before the ceremony.
Then having an evening reception with a light buffet & cake to party the night away somewhere, there is some nice golf courses about so we could go and play golf on the saturday or hit the beach etc if the weather is nice before heading home on either Sat or Sun.
I'd really like to spend some time with my side of the family on the Saturday as I dont see them very often and take them all for breakfast together or something... Learning to live with BPD & DDNOS

After my op I'll be skinny dipping!

Think we've decided to go for the Saturday instead, although not for definate still trying to find a compromise between us.
Wish we could just jet off somewhere hot and get married on the beach. That was always my dream wedding, but OH is set on getting married here. He also wants a church wedding *eurgh* Learning to live with BPD & DDNOS

I have been to a wedding on a good Friday it was brilliant.
We all had a good time and everyone was really relaxed as generally a laid-back day.
Go with your heart and good luck! We’re separate, two ghosts in one mirror, no nearer
Later on if it turns to chaos
Hurricane coming all around us
See the crack, pull it back from the window, you stay low..<3

I think you would also find it difficult to get a church wedding for Holy Saturday - As far as i know the Catholic church can't perform celebratroy sacraments during the solumn period of holy week.
The hardest bit of all the planning is finding the compromise between you both, I wanted a small informal country type wedding, the Fiance wanted a big hotel wedding,
End result - 150 guests in a nice Hotel, with nice landscaped grounds etc.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
As lazer said, you won't have a church wedding in a Catholic church on either Good Friday or Holy Saturday. Which is the reason I can't get married on 30th March next year although it would be perfect in every other way
I don't know about CofE though.
