If it came on their headed paper in english it would be fine there are ex-pat schemes with overseas insurers that issue docs in english rather than the local language and I cannot believe DL would ask for those to be translated into the local language and then certified translated back to english. DL Spain do it for one.0

Surely a statement from her french insurer that she never made a claim and the date her policy started are the details of ncd?
Not having a claim is a claim free history.
No claims bonus comes as a result of having your own policy and not claiming on it.
There are not the same thing.
For example lots of UK company car drivers have a claim free history but as they drive on their insurer policy they never build up NCB thatcomes from not claiming on your own policy.
Does she actually have NCB awarded on her own policy?
In the UK these are stated on the renewal notice so you can transfer to a new policy.
It sounds like what was provided first time was insufficient.
Unfortunately call center operators are not that knowledgeable and will only answer dorect questions.
You need to find out specifically what information is required.0 -
Alright folks!
It's all sorted now but they sure did not make it easy.
We had to call Directline to ask them what exact information they needed on the NCD proof document.
It turned out that the only info missing on the first NCD document sent was the Expiry date of the previous policy.
So we called the French insurance company and asked them to send us the NCD document once again with all the information requested by Directline.
Once we've received that document we got it translated (certified translation) for another £60 or so...
And finally once we received the certified translation, we sent everything to Directline (recorded delivery of course).
Meanwhile, without that NCD document, my car insurance went up from about £1100 to £1800. They have been debiting me about £300 for the last couple of months instead of the usual £90.
I have now received a letter from them confirming that they have now accepted the NCD document and that my policy has gone back to its original quote. Also I will only be paying the remaining of the insurance for the year which comes to about £30 a month.
What a relief!!! :rotfl:
Thanks for your help and hopefully it will help others in the same situation.0
