sony tv problem

i have a sony lcd tv that is 3yrs old.
every so often i get small white lines on the screen,usually couple of cms long that go away if i turn it off and on again. i realise the tv is out of guarantee now. does anyone know if theres anything i can do or what it is? also if i can contact sony about this as 3yrs doesnt seem that long for a expensive(at the time) lcd tv.

Firstly,is the Tv LCD or Plasma?

Possibly the pixels are on their way out...if the "dead" line is in the same place each time.

Does it happen everytime the Tv is on? If so how long is it on before the lines appear? Do they appear quicker once you have swithed the Tv off and on again?

I agree that 3 years isn't that old...but in the TV game it's a lifetime these days...just have a look around Currys and see how much the TVs have changed....a lot thinner for a start and also 3D is the in thing now....3 years ago it would have been difficult to fine a 3D Tv.

nope not everytime its on or in the same place.
i know how much tvs have changed mine was £600 then and bet its not now but still thought it would last longer?
