When you open a Santander Current Account online do they automatically register you for online banking or do you have to request it?

Just going through this process myself - you have to register online for online banking and then they send through details including passcodes and details (still waiting for mine

You have to register for online banking.
Note that if you were an A&L customer in the past, you can use the login details that you had for A&L. When you register for online banking with Santander, they will not tell you this, nor will they send you new login info, nor will they tell you why they have not sent it to you...0
