Laptop Cooling Mat/base?

I thinking about getting a Laptop mat/base? Unsure what to go for? The new dell laptop, does stay quite cool, having a built in cooling system, switching on/off.
The laptop is very quiet so if I went for a cooling one ? If needed?
Which ones are the quietest?
Or would a mat without the cooling system be equally OK?
Thx

I've tried a few of coolers and have ended up with the Akasa Quasar which I would recommend. It has a large fan that runs quietly (it also has two speed settings) and it's a good size for 15.6 laptops. I've used it with two different laptops and it noticeably reduces the operating temperature.Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0

waste of money, laptops cool themselves, provided you don't block up the vents - if the vents are underneath, a flat surface can inhibit efficient cooling, and convert a non problem into a problem.!!

For my laptop at home I have a piece of hardboard just a couple of inches bigger than the laptop. This keeps the air flowing where it should flow and stops fluff from clothes and cushions blocking the vents.
It stops most of the heat getting to the tops of my legs when playing graphics and CPU intensive games when the laptop gets really hot.

Cooling mats are pointless and typically used by the clueless to save them fixing the actual problem which is fluff blocking the heatsink because nobody ever cleans them or the fact they block the fan intakes up by using it on their knee or duvet.0

Hi appreciate your comments..........still think may be some sort of base to let the air flow & save the heat on the legs. What do you think of

hi, i got a little stand thing from one of the pound shops, its basically in the shape of an X with the back legs a little higher than the front, ive been using this for about 12 months with no problems, isnt the sturdiest thing in the world but when set up it dosent move.0

Put it on a hard surface and the problem will not arise (presuming that the fan ducts are not clogged up). If they are, then the processor will eventually burn out anyway, regardless of using a cooling stand.
Solve the issue, not the symptoms. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
