Are mens state pensions still paid at 65 or have the moved the goalposts like they have with women.0

Can people just stick to the forum rules which is about helping people with their specific benefit entitlements without being judgemental? I have reported the offensive posts to the forum moderators - I can't stand reading posters mocking a couple with health and hardship issues who are struggling to pay the rent. Her savings are under the means testing limits anyhow.
To the OP, for your next DLA application, get help with writing it by a benefit expert, perhaps DIAL or Citizens Advice can help you with it or advise an appropriate organisation. A helpful link is here

Those who have health issues that prevent them working (you are in your late fifties, I believe) have the option of applying for ESA. There should be some info on this on the Direct Gov website. Again, you can model the impact of a future potential ESA award on your household income on the Turn2us online benefit calculator.0 -

Seriously, making a little money needn't be a JOB type job, you're retired and there are things you can do at home.
Also, would you mind a tent in the back garden? Since you live in such a nice area...I wish I could fly, right up to the sky! But I can't...Famous Last Words: Bus?... What B....

As far as I know McNeff - no doubt someone will put me right if I've got it wrong.
Well, I wish I hadn't posed this question - I think I'll go and sit in the corner and quietly top meself!!! Then my son can use the 5K for my funeral and I won't feel so guilty.
Thanks for everyone's help (I think).
Annie, don't feel guilty, sometimes we feel hard done by but when we get other peoples perspective, we maybe learn to think differently. Sometimes I feel hard done by when i see all the Pensioners getting this that and the other on top of their pensions and because we saved for our old age and have (small pensions we cant claim anything but hey ho. Im quite happy about it. We manage very well on what we get anyway so really dont need the extra.
Top yourself, dont be daft, nothing is worth that so i presume you spoke without thinking.
Chin up, it's mothers day..............
Good luck.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
spend your 5k, savings are for a rainy day, this is the reason IMO all benefits should be means tested0

As he's over 35, he'd still get the same, 1 bedroom rate.0 -
You know, a lot of people have taken up camping. You could make some money by renting out a pitch or 2 in your back garden, more if you let them use your loo, or the kitchen. And you'll have nice, new neighbours every week!I wish I could fly, right up to the sky! But I can't...Famous Last Words: Bus?... What B....

Even if we were to spend the 5K on rent, we'll be back in the same situation when it runs out!
Oh well - I'm going for my tea now - bread and water - AGAIN!!! :rotfl:
Sorry I stirred up such a hornets nest0
