Probably true, makes you wonder why they waste money putting blue lights & sirens on ambulances0 -

Probably to get to the patient, assess them and commence medical care. If your that bad that a couple of minutes en route to the hospital is critical then I'd suggest you need an air ambulance.0 -
So the ambulance goes along the bus lane and comes up behind a bus or two that can't get out of the way!
It then has to force it's way into the inside lane of traffic that may not have anywhere to go!0 -

Great, when you have your heart attack just call one of the dozens of air ambulances that happen to be around.0 -

I suspect there was no emergency, in these days of council budget cuts they are likely sending out ambulances to force people into bus lanes so the bus lane cameras can take photos and send a £60 bill to each driver.0

People have been fined for going through red lights to let emergency vehicles through. You risk the same thing if moving into the bus lane0

But it happens - I once pulled over (road had double yellows) as best I could as I could see the blue flashing light behind. The woman behind me (and I too am female) clearly wasn't using her mirror - by this time the ambulance was immediately behind her - and she honked at me and started to pull out to overtake me - I pointed behind - at which point she turned her head and saw the ambulance!
I don't know the particulars in your case, but immediately pulling over, isn't always the best course of action.....
Drivers should always assess the situation and act accordingly.
A few months ago I was on a narrow road that opens to a short dual carriageway, Police come flying up behind, blues & two's going, the pillock in front of me pulled into the kerb and tried to stop, there was NO WAY this Police car was going to get past with heavy traffic coming the other way (mostly large trucks).
I start gesturing at the guy in front to carry on and he's gesturing at me as though he thinks I haven't seen the Police, eventually he slowly moves off and stops in a layby just short of the dual carriageway, Police are still behind me and i've no place to move, so I floor it to 70mph all the way to the dual carriageway......
As they pass me, the passenger winds his window down and gives me the thumbs up!
Had we stopped, they'd have been completely stuck.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I've seen people nearly get run over on the pavement before. Because of school run mums in mum trucks mounting the pavement without a second thought when they see/hear blue lights coming.0

We are not talking about mounting a pavement here, but moving over to the left into a bus lane, which is quite safe to do, to let an emergency vehicle pass.
If you suddenly mount the pavement, then you stand the chance of losing two alloy rims and tyres, because it is the same as running over a brick.0
