Slow heating problem with Worcester Bosch 28 CDi

Hi all,
My parents have a Worcester Bosch 28CDi:
http://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/homeowner/literature/discontinued-product-literature/discontinued-gas-boiler-literature/28cdi-rsf-discontinued-june-2007-literature

The problem they are suffering is that the boiler takes longer and longer to heat the rooms warm. A local handyman has said that the boiler will die soon. However, just want an opinion as to whether a component just needs replacing and every is good as new - possibly in conjunction with bleeding radiators or something.
As I understand the problem, the pressure stays low - but that might be a red herring.
Second question...if the boiler was to be replaced, what model would I replace it with today? I got this boiler installed by a company but told them to install the one that British Gas use (as British Gas has introduced their annual maintenance and support guarantee for these boilers so I assumed that would would last a few years).
Thanks

firstly you need to top up the heating system pressure, it should be 1 bar when the boiler isn't running, insert the plastic key into the hole underneath & open up the knob next to it & see if that cures the problem
take no notice of a "local handyman" if you have any concerns get a local GSR engineerI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I have a newer WB CDi boiler- works well. I do agree that the system needs topping up- usual pressure is 1bar. Usually you then turn the small red pointer to this level. It is only a pointer. It then enables you to do a quick check for loss of pressure. Filling instructions are in the literature that you link to. If you haven't got the filling key anymore you can find then
M on eBay.
As your pressure is low you will need to bleed all your radiators after topping up- then top up some more, back to 1bar.
Your rads are probably full of air and slow to heat up.0 -
the worcester 28cdi is a great wee boiler , it is getting on a bit but if im not mistaken all the parts are still available for it, i would top the pressure up first, the get your local gas safe registered engineer to have a good look at it , id be surprised if you need a new boiler. without being in front of it , id guess it maybe needs the sensors and/or gas pressures checked, this being ok id be looking at getting system cleaned out. Post the outcome if possible
