Credit limit reduced by £3000 without warning!

It's nothing to do with fraud, the amount of fraudulent use on credit cards when compared to normal usage is miniscule and easily offset by other profitable schemes they have in place.

The reductions in credit limit is purely and simply to reduce the exposure to risk and bad debt. It is less profitable for a company to reduce someone's limit so would not be done unless they think someone's account conduct either with themselves or elsewhere warrants it.

I have had the same thing done to me twice now in 4 months by Barclaycard - and I have resided myself to the fact it will keep on happening until the balance reaches £0 and they can reduce it no more.

However whilst I understand the principle of them wanting the customers who are making them money - it frustrates me that although they are called "barclay" card they still seem to consider themselves a completely seperate entity to "Barclays" bank. Now, I have all my banking with Barclays and I am a platinum customer and Barclays bank can't do enough for me but yet "Barclay" card can't even extend the courtesy of sending a quick line to their customer of 15 years + to say they are making a change to my account.

My company would be on its head if I treat my customers like that - its just plainly and simply rude - I think I might send my card back in little pieces with a step by step guide "how to keep your customers informed of changes to their accounts" I might even send them a model letter which they may wish to use in the future !!!!!!!!!!
