Scottish Power - Prepayment key meter (yay or nay?)
Right well i need some info here !
Well this past week, my mother has just dropped a bomb shell on me, saying she's in like £800 debt with SP, then I've had words with the old man, saying why hasn't he paid it of blah blah it seems they have been silent about it,
(untill they got that debt collection letter) - which rattled them.
so I advised them to get a key meter
(which is now confirmed and will happen next week)
- But my question is tho, is this a good idea in the long run ? will this £800 slowly go away over time the more they top up or?
As for me, im not on a key meter at my place and im paying like 85 Direct debit each month... so is it a good idea if i also choose the key meter ? or... ?
cheers

The rate that the £800 will decrease depends on the Debt Recovery Rate that they agree with SP. Key meters are the most expensive way to buy electricity but if you do't pay you don't get so no chance of getting further in debt. By agreeing to have one before it was forced on them means that they didn't incur extra charges like court costs and warrants etcIT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
