Turned left down a no left turn - cycles only?

Just wondering, I was an absolute muppet earlier and turned down a cycles only road, not sure if the cameras on the building opposite were specifically for enforcement purposes or just regular CCTV! If I was caught on camera, what's the damage likely to be? Searched the internet and it seems split between being just a fine, and fine plus 3 points? Or am I just overreacting?
I know it's pretty pointless to worry about it, but I am, and either way want to be prepared if anything does come thorugh the door!

Probably over-reacting. There are cameras everywhere, so no particular reason they should be enforcement ones.
But if they are, then it'll be the local authority and not the police, so they'd issue a fine - no points (you'd need to have been stopped by the police to run that risk). If you do receive a notice from the council, then hop over to pepipoo and they'll help you out: http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=300 -
Whether contravening a sign carries points depends on exactly which sign it is. No entry signs do attract points, but no left turn, no motor vehicles and (I think) the blue "cycles only" ones don't attract them. If you're interested the full list of signs is here, in the schedules listed at the bottom, (there have been a few minor changes since then, but that's 99% of them) and the ones which carry points are the ones specified in the second section here "for the purposes of column 5 of the entry in Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988".
In any event this is rather academic as the police typically don't use CCTV to monitor traffic sign contraventions so your chances of ending up with points are remote even if there was a no entry sign there. Worst case scenario would be the council using them which would mean a PCN - a non-criminalised process which costs money but no points. I wouldn't even worry about that too much unless/until something drops through the door.0
