Selling house look 1st or up for sale 1st

Were selling our house this spring after living here for 18yrs, and im wondering do we look at other property before we put our house on the market or should we put it on the market and then look,

you see the problem ive got is hubby is very eager to move to a bigger house/nicer area and im not that bothered.

what if we sell our's quick (most in our road are only up for 1-2 weeks before the sold sign's on) and we still havent found what we like, and then feel pressured into something,
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:

While there is nothing to stop you having a look around now to get an idea of what is on the market & what you may be able to afford, it is not a good idea to be actually looking for a home to buy at present. You need to have found a buyer for your house before you are in a position to be making an offer on another property.

If you have a problem finding a suitable property after finding a buyer for yours then ask the buyers if they will allow you a bit of time to find somewhere suitable, or consider renting for a short time to avoid feeling pressurised into finding something quickly. It's what I intend doing when mine goes up for sale in the spring.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • On the contrary. You will not be taken seriously as a buyer if you have not yet put your house on the market.

Have to say I don't entirely agree with either of you. We are looking to buy a property and are in such a position that we don't need to sell our current house in order to buy another one. OP hasn't exactly said what position they are in. It can be done though-buying your next property without selling your current one.
On the other hand when we come to sell ours then if our buyers aren't in the same position as us then we won't accept offers until they have sold-or at least in the process of a sale-and are ready to go. Doesn't mean we won't take them seriously though.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
