Electricity! How Much a Month?
Hi there

Moving into my first Flat next week with my girlfriend and was wondering if anyone can give me a guild line on the electricity bill each month or an average so i can budget for it.
there is no gas so its electric heating but will try not to use it much!
any answers welcome, thanks

Based on the information you have given it could be anything from £30 to £100+ per month...
Best bet is to go to one of the switching sites, they will take some info about your property and should give you an estimated annual price with the different companies, which should give you an idea.0 -
I'd advise read your meter regularly for the first few months so you have an idea of how many units you use per day during the different months of the year.
Is the heating storage heating? If so then you may be on economy 7 electric which would mean you pay more for your elec during the daytime and less at night (normally approx midnight to 7am) so if that's the case try to use appliances at night if possible.
It will also depend on how well insulated your flat is?
Do you have a hot water tank? If so do you have it on all the time, or on a timer?
Also lots of other factors will make all the difference...
We are currently using about £80 per month, but that's on the high side of average for a 2-bed flat.Indecision is the key to flexibility

I live in a 3 bedroom flat (2 floors) (Newcastle). I spend £23 a month on electricity with a standard energy contract with southern elec (discount for paying monthly by DD and have gas with them).
Note:Heating and hot water is central by gas. My gas bill is £28 per month.0 -
I live in a 3 bedroom flat, 1st floor, 5yrs old and in Edinburgh. I spend £35 a month for electric by DD and £20 per month for gas.
