Flickering Screen

I have an ageing Fujitsu Siemens LI2727 (2 or 3 years old I think). And for a while now, when I opened the lid the screen would flicker and just show green and black lines (but faded looking), for anything from a second to 10-15 seconds.

In the past two days it's been doing it without closing the lid, I can be just doing something needing to mouse (so not touching the actual laptop) and it'll flicker off.

It doesn't seem to matter if the laptop is cold or hot.

Do you think it's one it's way out and will be beyond hope, or is it something that might be fixable?

Sounds like a cold joint (although you say it doesnt matter if the laptop is hot or cold). Either that or a ribbon cable connecting the screen is starting to fail.

I'd be looking at a new laptop given what you describe.
